Spring Fling - May 2009
Spring Fling was held this year on National Scrapbook Day, on May 2nd & 3rd at the Rec Center. We did some neat layouts & projects, as well as some additional classes were held for those interested in learning some new techniques. Something new this crop - ongoing scrapbooking challenges, encouraging scrappers to try something different or scrap differently by following the rules of the said challenge. Hi to All!
Hope you are all enjoying this finally sunny weekend!! I hope it stays this way for at least a little while!
For those of you who attended the Spring Fling crop, thanks for coming and I hope you all enjoyed it!! Despite the problems with the unavailability of the tables, thanks to all your help it was not an issue for our crop. We had enough tables for all to comfortably crop. So thanks to you all for that! I think that the crop went pretty well, but would welcome any comments and suggestions about improving future crops. At the crop I announced that there probably would not be a fall crop. I have had a lot of feedback about that, and the Design Team and I are working on a way to make a fall crop work. I’ll keep you updated!!
Well, the shop is finally put back together!! It took a little longer than usual, as right after the crop I went right into the decorating preparations for the Prom. Kristyn is graduating this year! After that I got sick with some kind of Flu bug I guess. It really sent me for a loop, and has hung on for a long time! I’m pretty much back to normal now! Anyway……lots to tell you. I’ve got all the new Basic Grey lines in now, Marakeche, Porcelain, and the latest is Lime Rickey. Really nice lines. I just got an email that there are 3 more lines just released for summer from Basic Grey – just can’t get ahead!! Another new line in for the crop was the 7 Gypsie line called Gypsy Market. A beautiful line in rich colors! Lots of neat stuff! Have 3 new lines from Bo-Bunny: Alissa, Grease Monkey and U Bug Me,….also got lots of the co-ordinating double dot cardstock papers and ribbons to match! Best Creations Glitter paper line is another new item in stock with a large selection of themes…all double sided heavy weight cardstock glittered on one side. The glitter on this line is coated with a clear coat so the glitter will not brush off! Lots of new Graduation and Prom items, new Disney paper, new flowers and new new albums. I’ve also just put out the new Wedding line from Making Memories, the “I Do” collection a beautiful collection of papers and embellishments. Bazzill is now making swiss dot and embossed cardstock in a variety of colors and you can get them here at Magical Memories!!
And now……drum roll…..the new summer edition of Canadian Scrapbooker is in, and if you turn to pg 120 you will see a familiar name there!!!! Our own Shanna Turnbull has had one of her layouts published, and it is a wonderful layout about her dad!! CONGRATULATIONS SHANNA!!!!!! Drop by and pick up your copy now, still only $10, best price in town!
The Gallery has been updated with the new projects from CHA if you want to check them out but can’t get to the shop. If you would like to contribute to the gallery, you can e-mail your pictures to either myself, (bcampbel@shaw.ca) or Dolores, (Deester@mts.net) and we will add your layouts or projects to the gallery page!! The Design Team has been busy with their new projects, the latest is the Technique Tuesday pages that are on display now. They are just beautiful! They are currently working on new pages using some of the brand new lines in! To see their work, drop down to the shop and see the Design Team board where it is all displayed. Can’t make it down….check out the Design Team page on our new Web site!

New class schedule
KIDS CLASS – Our next kids class is on Wed. June 3rd. 7 to 8:15 pm. It will be a winter theme. Kids can bring 3 4x6 photos that can be cut down to fit. Cost is $10.00
Mini chipboard album – This class is using the Little Yellow Bicycle new Baby Safari line. You can choose to do a boy or girl book. Limited number of spaces available for both. Cost is $25.00. 7 to 10 pm.
TECHNIQUE TUESDAY – Tuesday, June16th, 7 to 10 pm will be a fun page from Technique Tuesday. It will be a layout titled “Love Bug”. If you’ve been wondering just how to use those chipboard tiles this class will take all the mystery out of it!! This kit includes everything you need and includes a technique Tuesday stamp set and inks to take home with you. A great value at only $30.00.

If you are interested in any of these classes drop down to the shop to register. There are limited spaces for classes, so don’t wait it you want to take something.
PARADE OF SCRAPBOOK ROOMS – A tentative date of Friday, Sept. 11 has been set for the parade of scrapbook rooms. If you are interested drop down to the shop to put your name down. We will gather and go to each place and check out your Scrapbooking space. This will be a fun evening! Think about joining in!!
